《Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science Edition)》創(chuàng)刊于1986年，是由武漢理工大學主辦。

《Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science Edition)》為國內(nèi)材料領(lǐng)域的綜合性學術(shù)刊物，本刊1999年受到中國科協(xié)和國家自然科學基金聯(lián)合頒發(fā)的重點扶持性資助，被中國科技論文統(tǒng)計源期刊，中國科學引文數(shù)據(jù)庫來源期刊，中國學術(shù)期刊綜合評價數(shù)據(jù)庫來源期刊，中國期刊網(wǎng)和萬方數(shù)據(jù)網(wǎng)源刊等收錄。

《Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science Edition)》刊載材料科學（非金屬材料、復(fù)合材料、有機高分子材料、金屬材料等）的學術(shù)論文。重點發(fā)表納米材料、無機非金屬材料科學及工程、生物材料、復(fù)合材料新技術(shù)等學科且受到國家自然科學基金、863項目、十五十一五等計劃項目、973項目等國家級科學基金資助的論文。

《Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science Edition)》的主要任務(wù)是：反映材料及其相關(guān)領(lǐng)域內(nèi)最新科研及工程應(yīng)用成果(包括新理論、新產(chǎn)品、新工藝等)，主要刊登材料基礎(chǔ)研究及應(yīng)用研究的學術(shù)論文，注重發(fā)表校內(nèi)外作者的省部級以上科研基金資助課題的產(chǎn)出論文。讀者對象為國內(nèi)外從事材料及其相關(guān)專業(yè)的工作者及大專院校師生。
